dc.description.abstract Information on the network is growing rapidly. The use of Internet is becoming a part of life. The data being transferred has increased to a magnitude of two billion electronics pages per day. This definitely leaves lot of room to the improvement in this technology. Today many research institutions are working to improve the standards in the web technology. A lot of new technologies and many new web related software's are being introducing day by day. Markup languages are basically used to handle the data over the Internet. Markup languages also required updating. Hence HTML was enhanced to HTML 4 and XML was introduced The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a subset of SGML (standard generalized markup language). Its goal is to enable generic SGML to be served, received, and processed on the Web in the way that is now possible with HTML. XML has been designed for ease of implementation and for interoperability with both SGML and HTML. The Web Mapper provides the functionality to convert the existing HTML documents into well-formed XML documents. This software is developed using different Java API's for XML including SAX. Web Mapper is an ideal solution for those who wants to use XML as a markup language for their web pages. en_US
