dc.description.abstract The present study was conducted to reveal the subsurface geology of the Gupchani area by the structural interpretation of seismic sections and to assess the hydrocarbon potential of Miran-01 well by the petrophysical analysis. The Gupchani area is in Thar platform, Lower Indus basin. Using the Formation tops of the Miran-01 well, horizons were marked. Seismic interpretation was performed on five seismic lines and Parh and Lower Goru Formations were marked on all the sections. Seismic interpretation shows that the area has gone through deformation and lies in the extensional regime as normal faults with horst and graben structures were quite blatant. Time and depth contour maps justifies the phenomenon of normal faulting in the area. The trend of these structures is N-S trending, and the zones interpreted during our study lies in the Lower Goru Formation. Various petrophysical parameters including volume of shale, hydrocarbon saturation and porosities were computed to observe the properties of the reservoir. Out of two zones, zone 2 has more effective porosity that makes it a more viable zone for the occurrence of hydrocarbons as compared to zone 1. en_US
