Abstract:
The document examines the geology and tectonics of the study region, which is a thrustbounded pop-up anticlinal structure in the Basal oil field. The place is located in Fatteh Jhang,
Attock District, Pakistan. The area is in the eastern Kohat Plateau of Pakistan's Upper Indus
Basin. The research's major focus is to use available seismic lines to identify the petroleum
system and structures capable of hydrocarbon accumulation using 2D seismic interpretation of
the studied area. The presence of anticlinal geometry and pop-up structures is confirmed by a
subsurface imaging of the area. With the help of time and depth contour maps, the results are
further examined in depth. The petrophysical examination of the study region is also discussed
in this document, which is based on well log data from the Garhi X-01 well drilled in the field.
The appraisal of the main reservoirs in the research region is the focus of petrophysical analysis.
The Chorgali Formation and Sakesar Limestone of late Eocene age, as well as Lockhart
Limestone, were identified as the main reservoirs in this well based on three main reservoir
characteristics: porosity, hydrocarbon saturation, and shale content of the reservoirs in the
research region. The whole of interpretation is represented by graphs that show good effective
porosity conditions with less shale volume in both formations, but Lockhart Limestone has less
water saturation and more hydrocarbon saturation than Chorgali Formation and Sakesar
Limestone, indicating that it has more potential to be a good hydrocarbon reservoir.
