Abstract:
The rapid evolution of wireless communication offers enormous attractiveness in the field of smart antenna. Smart antenna systems can be used to enhance channel capacity, bandwidth, signal to noise ratio and MIMO performance. In this technology different directions of arrival (DOA) algorithms have been used for spectral estimation of smart antenna systems i.e. Capon, Bartlett, Liner prediction and MUSIC etc. MUSIC is one of the best algorithms for spectral estimation of smart antenna systems with ULA setup. Also MUSIC algorithm can be used with other array setups. In this thesis, a detailed study of spectral estimation for smart antenna systems has been conferred. Thesis has been disseminated into two phases; in first phase performance evaluation of the spectral estimation has been accomplished. In the second phase of research, a novel methodology for spectral estimation has been proposed and simulated. Simulation results have shown the significance of the proposed work over the existing spectral estimation techniques.
