Abstract:
In the recent years there is a tremendous increase in the demands of telecommunication
which include both voice and data applications. This is true for mobile and Internet based
services. WIMAX had played an important role in providing cheaper communications to
users present in both cities and rural areas; further WIMAX had played an important role
to bridge the digital divide between the developed and under developing countries. WIMAX is the cheapest wireless technology; it is based on the principle of point to multipoint wireless networking, which enables it to provide voice, broadband and video services to users. The WIMAX is economically feasible for both urban and rural environments as WIMAX does not has any line of sight transmission issues and is able provide coverage in a larger area with fewer base stations which are working on the principle of point to multipoint networking in which all the client stations or customer premises equipment is coordinating with the base station. In the current scenario WIMAX is the only technology, which offer low and cost affective communication services to users present all around the globe and is a key to success for the emerging markets, which were lacking behind due to the poor communication infrastructure. In this report I have try to trace out the major problems in the WIMAX coverage area spectrum like white spots, which are the causes of the WIMAX service degeration and signal loss in certain areas. The main focus of this report will be on the coverage models and basic approaches like heterogeneous approach in order to give solution to avoid white spots issues in the network coverage spectrum of WIMAX technology.
