Abstract:
This quantitative study was employed to explore the relationship between Coping strategies, Perceived stress and loneliness among undergraduates’ hostellers and day scholars (188 hostel students and 163 day scholars). Participant’s age was between 18 to 25 and these were selected from private, government and semi government’s universities and hostels. Coping scale (Hamby, Grych, & Banyard, 2013); the perceived stress scale (Cohen et al., 1982) and UCLA loneliness scale version 3 (Russel, 1996) were used to collect data from participants. The data was analyzed by bivariate Pearson correlation and independent sample t test. The findings of the studies showed a positive Correlation between Perceived stress and loneliness and a negative Correlation between Coping strategies and Perceived stress. Loneliness and Perceived stress seemed higher in hostellers than day scholar’s university students.
