Abstract:
This study examines the impact of employee autonomy on innovative work behavior, among employees working in IT sector of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. This study has utilized the concept of self-determination theory to examine how employee autonomy impacts the innovative work behavior among employees in the presence of work engagement as mediator and emotional intelligence as moderator. Data were collected from 222 employees working in the IT sector of Rawalpindi and Islamabad using the convenient sampling method. The results obtained in the end shows that there exists a positive relationship between employee autonomy and innovative work behavior and work engagement mediates this relationship. While, emotional intelligence playing the role of moderator strengthens the relationship between employee autonomy and work engagement.
