Abstract:
Purpose
This study investigates the impact of empowering leadership on team learning behavior in IT
sector. IT teams are important as it is still unclear that how elements of empowering leadership
can result into effective learning in IT teams therefore, the current research is conducting on the
population of IT teams that are working in IT forms of Karachi, Pakistan. This study uses five
constructs of empowering leadership including Lead by Example, Participative Decision
Making, Coaching, Informing and Showing Concern.
Methodology & Design
The study has used quantitative data analysis in which data is collected through adopted
questionnaire. Quantitative data analysis involves data analysis through software. In this study
Smart PLS software is used. Data is collected from 140 team based employees from IT sector of
Karachi.
Findings
Empowering leadership through informing and showing concern has significant positive impact
on team learning behavior. While, trust moderates relationship of empowering leadership
through lead by example and participative decision making with team learning behavior.
Limitations
Results ofstudy are only generalized to the IT sector of Karachi
Recommendations
IT companies of Pakistan to develop and foster a sense oftrust among workers to enhance team
learning behavior. IT companies can use trust and concern to help employees develop positive
and constructive links with each other. Employees should be included in the choice-making to
make sure they feel valued and an essential part ofthe organization.
