Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of emotional intelligence on job performance in IT sector of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and the perceived supervisor support role in influencing/strengthening the relationship between job performance and emotional intelligence. Study expected to urge policy makers and HR managers to develop and implement training and strategies to enhance self/emotional recognition, self-regulation and self-motivation abilities of employees. Study was descriptive and cross-sectional in nature. Data was collected through questionnaire from 341 respondents. The data was then analyzed using software IBM SPSS. Results indicated that emotional intelligence elements i.e., self-regulation, self-awareness and self-motivation have significant impact on job performance and perceived supervisor support influence the relationship between EI and job performance.
