Abstract:
This research was conducted with an aim to explore the influence of active parental, restrictive parental guidance and active sibling guidance on children's perceived attitude, norms, and behavioral control in Pakistan. An adoptive questionnaire was given to convenience sample of 510 children related their heathy food consumption and guidance offered by their parents and siblings. Quantitative descriptive approach was used to explore the relationship between variables. Six variables (active parental guidance, restrictive guidance, active siblings' guidance, perceived norms, attitudes and behavioral control) are used to conduct this research. Data from children was collected and analyzed using linear regression and Process by Hayes. Results show that there is positive association between active parental guidance, and perceived attitude and behavioral control. It is also found that there is positive relationship between restrictive parental guidance, and perceived behavioral control, attitude and norms of children. Finally, there connection between active siblings' guidance, and perceived norms and behavioral control is also significant and positive. However, there is no association between active parental guidance and perceived norms, and between active siblings' guidance and perceived attitude in children while consuming healthy food at home. Finally, the study provides guidelines for parents and siblings about why and under what circumstances children's healthy consumption is being affected so that accurate measures can be taken by them on time.
