dc.description.abstract | Efficient energy usage plays a very important role for the development of the country.Pakistan faces a huge issue of power and energy shortage. Therefore, a proper monitoring system of energy is requirred for both public and private sector. There are many problems associated in the current energy metering system like inaccurate billing, theft and wastage of power and energy as the consumers have no knowledge of the amount of units they have consumed. Thus in this project an idea is proposed to make a practical model of IoT based smart meter that calculates and displayes bill for a user’s gas and electricity usage in real time. The proposed smart energy meter uses a PIC controller, mass flow sensor of gas measurement and transformers to calculate current and voltage and by using a Wi-Fi module displays the data on an Android application for the consumer to see in real time. Therefore, energy analysis by the consumer becomes very easy and portable. This system also helps in detecting theft and inaccurate billing. Thus, this smart meter helps home automation using IoT principles and also enables wireless communication through an android application. The thesis covers details of a IoT based smart meters.. The frame-work requires automated technology to fulfil the project needs. Uti-lizing open source microcontroller PIC 16F887, Current and Votage sensor for electricity smart meter, also flow mass sensor for gas smart meter which made stable by executing a controller. | en_US |
