dc.description.abstract | The project plays a pivotal role to cover the barrier of communication in speech and hearing-impaired people and normal world by providing alternating and augmentative communication (AAC) based glove able to translate sign language in real time. The designed system is working as a wearable assistive device which interprets sign language into words and play them on the speaker as well as displays on screen with real time editing of words if wrongly interpreted. A glove-based sign language converter is proposed for removing the barrier of communication between speaking and hearing-impaired community with common people. The prime objective is to design an assistive wearable product for the people who face inability to hear or speak. In previously designed devices, if a wrong data is fed to controller then there was no such feature to backspace the incorrect data. Flex sensors plays a vital role in this project. Five flex sensors are fixed on five fingers. By using flex sensors, different resistance values are obtained and given to sensor data. In the start, the user makes the hand gestures and sensor data is given to Arduino UNO where ADC converts analog data into digital form. Then Arduino UNO shows the data on LCD, if it is according to the user then it is forwarded from Arduino. Further, data from LCD is send to speaker for voice output. In case of incorrect data, user will make the backspace gesture and again make finger gesture to rewrite correct sentence and whole procedure repeats again. | en_US |
