dc.description.abstract Amazon.com, Inc. is an American multinational technology company which has the focus on ecommerce, artificial intelligence, digital streaming, and cloud computing. It is amongst the top five information technology companies along with Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, and Google. This company is certainly recognized as one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world. In addition, Amazon is also referred as world’s most valuable brand. On July 5 1994, Jeff Bezos founded Amazon from his garage in Bellevue, Washington. In the beginning, Amazon was an online marketplace for books. Later on, it started selling jewelry, toys, food, furniture, apparel, video games, software, and electronics. In 2015, Amazon surpassed Walmart and became the most valuable retailer in USA on the basis of market capitalization. In 2017, Whole Foods Market was acquired by Amazon for US$13.4 billion, which has further increased the footprint of this multinational technology company as a physical retailer.
