Technologies and Its Role in Improving Inventory Management: Empirical Evidence from Construction Industry of Islamabad

Abstract

This study investigates the role of technologies in improving inventory management of construction industry in Islamabad. This study has considered biometric verification system, inventory management system, electronic data interchange system and value-added network as independent variables. Whereas, inventory management is used as the dependent variable. However, construction industry of Islamabad is the sector chosen to investigate the relationship between variables mentioned above. Quantitative research method was used as primary data was collected through adoptive structured questionnaire based on 5 Likert scale. The responses were recorded from 300 respondents (supply chain members working for construction firms operating in Islamabad) through convenience sampling technique. Responses recorded were analyzed through statistical tests such as correlation and regression by using SPSS Software. The results indicate that biometric verification system, inventory management system, electronic data interchange system and value-added network positively impacts inventory management in construction industry of Islamabad. Based on the findings of this study, technologies significantly improve inventory management, as change in technologies brings a significant change in inventory management of construction industry in Islamabad
