dc.description.abstract This research endeavor aims to explore the impact of training particularly the project management training (PMTR) on project success (PS) and to inspect the moderating effect of the top management support (TMS) between project management training and project success particularly in public sector organizations of Pakistan. The questionnaire based survey method was used to explore the relationship between independent and dependent variables. A sample of 178 project managers including project directors, project supervisors and other projects related officials and experts from public sector organizations of Pakistan, was considered for their inputs. The responses were received from the federal and provincial departments of Pakistan, which has undertaken small, medium and large size social and developmental projects in Pakistan with an experience of five to thirty years and more. Trainer and trainee characteristics along with training design are used to measure training and the mediating factor of project management competencies (PMC) is measured using the constructs namely the communication, teamwork, attentiveness and managing conflicts in trainees. Project success is measured according to items related with cost, schedule, scope, quality and stakeholders’ satisfaction. The moderating effect of TMS for achieving project success is measured according to the items linked with resource provision, administrative structure, communication, expertise and power. This research has empirically proved that Project Management Trainings significantly affect the success of projects. It was also depicted that Project Management trainings develop the competencies of project teams that effects the project success. Furthermore, top management support moderates the relationship between Project Management Trainings and Project Success. en_US
