dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study is to examine the association between shared leadership and project success in project-based construction companies through project planning and risk management as a mediator and moderating role of innovativeness as a project requirement. For this research, convenience sampling is used to collect data from 349 employees working in construction companies in Islamabad – Rawalpindi, Pakistan. SPSS and Smart partial least square structural equation modeling (Smart PLS) was used to test the hypothesis. The results revealed that shared leadership has a positive and significant impact on project success. The mediating role of project planning and risk management has also been tested and it is proved that both of them are potential mediators between shared leadership and project success. Innovativeness as a project requirement has insignificant moderating relationship between project planning and project success and has a negative moderating relationship between risk management and project success. Results has shown it is very important for project managers to practice shared leadership and empower their team members in order to get favorable outcomes and the relationship between SL and PS through mediating role of project planning and risk management is a new contribution to the literature, these relationships have never been studied before. en_US
