Abstract:
The purpose of the current study is to inspect the process regarding the impact of leader member interdependence on employee’s productivity. Integrating the literature with leader member interdependence process, we hypothesized that the positive relationship between the leader member interdependence and employee productivity is sequentially mediated by job demands and work involvement. Research design/methodology/approach A quantitative approach was taken through a rolled out questionnaire within the three public sectors organization in Islamabad. 264 employees filled out the questionnaires that were used to test the hypothesized relationships. Findings The employees who maintain high quality relationships with their leader are more productive and leader too have success due to mutual trust, mutual respect and mutual goals. The process is being facilitated by job demands and work involvement. Practical implications The study weighs upon the significant value of leader member interdependence to have more productive environment within the organization and its practical implication in employees work involvement and affectivity. Originality The current study investigates leader member interdependence as a proximal fortuneteller of employee productivity and inspect the relationship between these. Furthermore, current study, precisely inspect job demands and work involvement as mediator between leader member interdependence and employee productivity.
