Abstract:
This study aims to investigate the relationship between post traumatic growth (PTGI), well being (WB) and meaning in life (MIL). The study further investigates that how these variables are affected by gender difference, type of amputation, degree of amputation. The present study also investigate that how PTGI, well being and meaning in life is affected by prosthetic and orthotics amputees. After detailed literature review, hypotheses were framed for the present study such as; there will be significant correlation between post traumatic growth and meaning in life. There will be significantly positive relationship among post traumatic growth and well being. There will be variations in POST traumatic growth, meaning in life and well being in different demographics. Total 350 questionnaires were distributed among different patients’ who lose their limbs in any accident or blast. These respondents are from military hospital for rehabilitation. The total sample comprised of 150 responses was considered relevant for the further analysis. Demographic information sheet, post traumatic growth inventory (PTGI) (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 1996)), meaning in life questionnaire (MLQ) (Steger, 2006) and Warwick Edinburgh mental well being scale (WEMWBS) (Tennant R., Hiller L.,Brown S et al.,2005) were used in current study. Descriptive statistics, Pearson product-moment correlation, Independent sample t-test and ANOVA analysis of covariance were used to analyze and interpret research data. Results indicate the significant positive relationship of post traumatic growth, meaning in life and well being. Results indicated significant differences among gender, age groups, education level, type and level of amputation..Finally limitations of current study and recommendations for future study have also been suggested.
