Abstract:
This study examines the pictorial analysis of Jammu and Kashmir conflict after the abrogation of Article 370 from the Indian constitution. Using visual content analysis, it explores the images from newspapers from both countries i.e. India and Pakistan. The main cause of never-ending tensions and consecutive wars between Indian and Pakistan is because of the Kashmir dispute for the last seven decades. Multiple efforts with dialogues and negotiations were made with no success whatsoever, mainly because oflndia's agenda and its rigid policies and approach toward the issue of Kashmir. However, with the revocation of Article 370 and 35(A), the dispute of Kashmir has took a new shape. It has pushed the region into an unending mayhem by changing the antonymous status of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, most of the Kashmiris have been fighting for the right of independence for many years which was assured to them by the Instrument of Accession of 1947, and the United Nations resolutions through a Referendum. This study examines the pictorial analysis of Jammu and Kashmir conflict after the abrogation of Article 370 from the Indian constitution. Using visual content analysis, it explores the images from newspapers of both countries i.e. India and Pakistan. This results showed that there were 13 images out of 4 7 in The New Indian Express where Indian forces were portrayed as friend. So, the newspaper of India kept supporting the policy of the government but also published images oflndian atrocities with the percentage of 25, in the region of Kashmir.
