Impact of Project Governance and Benefit Realization Management on Creation of Organizational Business Value: Mediating Role of Project Success

Abstract

Project management basically defines the goals of the project, recently project management is emerging rapidly in two steams, one is project governance and the second is benefit realization management. The main focus of these steams is to shift the focus of project based organizations from product creation to value creation. This study examines the impact of project governance and benefit realization management on organizational business value with mediating role of project success. Though project success is very necessary factor for all those projects that are in consideration for generation of business value. For this study, data collected from project directors, project coordinators and project managers belonging to 30 software’s houses situated in 5 Software Technologies Parks based in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The results of this study show that project success mediates the relationship of project governance and BRM with creation of organizational business value. Business managers demand value contribution to organizations derived from projects. Findings suggest that project based organizations can generate the value from their projects to contribute towards value creation and align the project outcomes with business strategy of the organization
