dc.description.abstract The Research Projects and innovation in education sector is getting complex day after day. Government of Pakistan through Higher Education Commission and other governing bodies are trying to raise standards of Higher Education but at the same time it is facing the challenges in the success of research projects, especially the ones that are funded through Higher Education Commission. The role of restricted capacity of leadership of Project Investigator as well as ineffective communication leads to less control on the project and eventually upon its success The study aimed at finding the mediating role of effecting communication between project control and project success with transformational leadership as moderator. Deductive approach was used for the formulation of hypothesis. The research was quantitative in nature using descriptive method. An adopted close-ended questionnaire on 5-point Likert scale was used for data collection. The population comprised of all PI’s who have been awarded and completed, research projects under NRPU by HEC, Pakistan. The sample of the study was selected by using simple random sampling technique which is a type of probability sampling. The results of linear regression analysis strongly indicated the relationship between project control and project success. The results from Preacher Hayes model (2018) also verified the mediating role of effective communication among project control and project success and further exhibited moderating role of transformational leadership among project control and effective communication as well as between effective communication and project success. These results may aid Higher Education Institutions in general and HEC for developing strategies to strengthen leadership traits and effective communication skills in Principal Investigators especially for NRPU. en_US
