Relationship Between Project Management Competencies and Project Management Career Path in Telecom Sector of Pakistan

Abstract

Projects in telecom sector of Pakistan are becoming more complex and flexible due to which project management competencies are becoming core assets in project management career path. To determine the importance of project management competencies and their relationship with project management career path, this study has been conducted. Literature review suggests that project management competencies changes with advancement in project management career path. A survey has been conducted among project management practitioners and quantitative analysis has been performed at surveyed data. The findings of the study indicate the difference of opinion among project management practitioners of telecom sector regarding project management competencies and project management career path. The conclusion of the study will help the project management practitioners of telecom sector to revisit the project management techniques to conduct the project execution smoothly and to develop project management career path using PMI standards within organization.
