dc.description.abstract The idea of project management starting circulating around when services and products developed according to the human needs. PMBOK has defined the term project as ‘a temporary endeavor with a beginning and an end that must give a unique product, service or result’. The concept or project management has evolved significantly in the last decade. This concept has become a widespread area of interest for researchers. Due to globalization, projects have increased along with increase in complexities related to projects. The complexities affect rate of success or failure of a project. Project success is a broadly talked about subject in Project Management (Koops et al., 2014). Every project is unique in nature. This makes every project very risky. Researchers have been conducting extended research on the factors that can determine project success. In recent times, there has been extended research on the factors that determine a project’s success. No two projects are ever alike therefore every project requires different factors that determine success of a project. Project Success was initially based on the three concepts of cost, time and quality. With time, researchers realized that project success cannot only be limited to these factors. Every project is carried out in different environment and under different management. Muller and Jugdev (2005) identified 22 factors that determine success of a project. Every organization has its own success criteria for a project. The success factors vary from one organization to another. With the evolution of the concept of Project Management the meaning of project success has changed after some time and now it the focus has shifted more towards the needs of stakeholders (Badewi, 2015). As the organization’s implement various success factors related to a project, they tend to create challenges for the organization especially if they are being implemented for the first time. Many factors contribute to the success of project and have been developed by Project Management bodies, however, actual studies highlight the challenges and difficulties associated with implementing Project Management methodologies (Chou & Yang, 2012). The challenges faced can have a great impact on the project; the project can be turned into a success or a failure. This occurs because external and internal context can affect Project Management (Carvalho et al., 2015). en_US
