Effect of Work-Related Stress, Work-Family Conflict and Job-Role Conflict on Burnout and Workplace Safety Behavior of Project Workers

Abstract

This study aims at investigating the effects and consequences of the work-related stress, work-family conflict, and job-role conflict on the workers of construction sector and the ix impacts of the burnout on the workplace safety behavior including the safety compliance and participation at project sites. A quantitative approach was utilized in collecting the required data by using questionnaire survey and descriptive analysis was done in analyzing the gathered data. The simple random sampling technique was used to select the construction sector organizations. The overall results of the study indicates that the job demands like work-related stress, work-family conflict, and job-role conflict are significantly contributing toward workers’ burnout, which in turn, has significant negative impacts on the workplace safety behavior. The findings of this study will help the project organizations in decreasing the employee burnout by providing sufficient resources to counter the job demands which will also assist in improving workplace safety behaviors of the workers at construction sites.
