Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are dedicated sensor nodes based connected network for data sensing and further transmit to the end devices for decision making. The sensor nodes are using advance communication technologies to communicate with each other and with infrastructure. Various different types of applications have gained popularity in WSN networks such as healthcare monitoring, industrial processes monitoring, agricultural monitoring, and target tracking. The sensor nodes have limited capabilities in terms of limited computation power, limited battery life, limited storage, and memory. With number of benefits, these networks have been suffered with security and routing challenges. Many cryptographic schemes have been introduced to ensure the security such as confidentiality, key sharing etc. in the WSNs. Extensive use of WSN, important and sensitive infom1ation exchanged over an unsecured channel in the network make these networks more vulnerable. There are different types of devices and sensor nodes are involved for data transmission like sensor node, sink and gateway nodes. It is a difficult to adopt the existing security solutions in these networks due to limited resources of these systems. In this paper, we propose a Lightweight Security Mechanism for WSN networks to improve the Network security and minimize the network overhead and delay issues. The proposed solution is evaluated in simulation scenario and compare with state of the art schemes in terms of energy consumption, and text size. |
