dc.description.abstract As in the current scenario of Pakistan telecom operators, the network deployment is completed. No new expansion in case of network entities as well as software up gradation is required. Each operator here has same network structure and same type facilities available for the customers. Now the operator has to compete in the area of Quality of service. Quality of service as Peter F Duckers says” It is what the customer gets out and is willing to pay for”. In telecom just like other fields, quality of service is the customer satisfaction. Quality of service is divided into two parts; one is quality related to access the network for which operator has to be careful about network availability (coverage area), signal strength, handovers and multipath fading. The second part is of core network which is the backend network and carries out call switching and mobility management. To achieve the quality of service of the core network one has to define key parameter indicators and point out the issues by observing the trending and aggregation of KPIs. The main theme of our project is to improve the quality of service of the core network. We achieved this with the development of KPIs using signalling messages and call flows. KPIs for different call scenarios location update of Mobilink user and international roamers were implemented. With the graphical representation of KPIs we were able to point out various issues in MSCs database and network resources. By providing recommendations to planning and optimization departments we were able to save the revenue as well as provided better customer satisfaction especially in case of international calls and roamers issues where bad quality is intolerable. In future we will expand our project for implementation of fraud detection and network audit KPIs. Performance of Access domain will be observed with the signalling tool Astellia which monitors the A interface of the GSM network. By the implementation of fraud detection KPIs the future project will not only be revenue saving but it will be more towards revenue generating. en_US
