dc.description.abstract | Technology can be good when used positively or can be hazardous when used inappropriately. Mobile Phone has brought a revolution in communication but is also the culprit behind numerous traffic accidents. According to an estimate by National Safety Council (NSC) of USA, at least 1.6 million of traffic accidents occur every year due to cell phone usage and texting. Although cell phone usage should not be encouraged while driving, but sometimes, a call or a sms can be urgent. To tackle the problem of attending urgent calls, we are introducing a system through which the driver can listen to incoming text messages as well as reply back to a message through voice commands. We are using Microsoft Speech Application Programming Interference (SAPI) to deal with text to speech part. Microsoft SAPI is a programming interference which allows the developer to write applications involving speech recognition, speech synthesis, and text to speech based applications. To deal with speech-to-text issue, we are using Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients technique to recognize words and convert them in written form. Finally, AT commands will be used to communicate between PC and cell phone. | en_US |
