Abstract:
Human capital is the source for any organization to gain competitive edge. The war for talent and talent retention mainly depends on the affective commitment of employees’. In order to retain employees’, they need to be satisfied so that they have a high commitment with organization. Proper skills enhancing practices and motivation enhancing practices build such an environment that leads to develop people and enhance their job satisfaction and affective commitment in industry like service industry, particularly in telecom industry where the first impression of an organization is portrayed by their nonmanagerial staff. Researchers and practitioners have paid much of their attention tounderstand this phenomenon. This study intended to investigate the impact of skills enhancing practices and motivation enhancing practices directly on affective commitment and indirectly through job satisfaction. The study collects data through adopted questionnaires which are distributed among the telecom industry registered with (PTA) located in the twin cities of Pakistan. Software SPSS (Statistical package for Social Sciences) is employed to investigate the hypotheses. Findings are important for the top management of the telecom sector to build and incorporate the skills enhancing practices and motivation enhancing practices in order to elevate the level of job satisfaction which ultimately helps to enhance affective commitment of employees’.
