dc.description.abstract Recently organizations have started to take mentoring as an important strategy of human resource development, yet there is a little knowledge on how mentoring improves the performance of employees working in organizations. This research examined the effects of formal mentoring on employee performance in two telecommunication organizations of Islamabad, Pakistan. The whole telecommunication industry of Pakistan has not been investigated yet. This study involved quantitative analysis of data whereas survey questionnaire was adopted as a research design. The population of study was employees from telecommunication sector mainly Mobilink and Ufone. Responses included in the study for analysis were one hundred ninety nine. The data collected were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient statistics technique, regression analysis and mediation test. The findings of the study revealed that mentoring had positive effects on employees' performance as well as trust plays mediating role between formal mentoring and employee performance. The study concluded that mentorships had significant relationship with employee performance. The study recommends that for telecommunication organizations to sustain better employees' performance, the organizations should be encouraged to have a mentorship program for the employees of the organization, which will result in better employees' performance for the business to achieve its objectives. 4 en_US
