Abstract:
Purpose
At one point in time, IQ was viewed as the primary determinant of success. Today,
however, the concept of intelligence has not only been viewed as a cognitive capacity but has
also been applied to other areas such as emotional intelligence and existential intelligence.
Emotional intelligence determines how one should handle his/her behavior and emotions,
how to cope with social problems, and how to make decisions under pressure that leads to
positive results. The main objective of this research is to evaluate and measure emotional
intelligence in managers of the hospital settings in Pakistan. This study will analyze the
relationship between emotional intelligence with managerial effectiveness. It will also assess
the relationship of dimensions of El with managerial effectiveness.
Methodology & Design
A cross-sectional study was conducted which was aimed to assess the El in healthcare managers of Pakistan from 2020 to 2021. The target population was the healthcare manager's
hospitals, NGOs and other healthcare sectors of Karachi who have managerial experience for more
than 6 months. A sample size of 100 participants has been calculated by taking 50%
prevalence of El in the managers along with 95% of confidence interval. Through non- probability convenience sampling technique would be used in this study. For this research ,traits of El were
measured through TElQue-SF that consists of 30 items. Managerial effectiveness was
measured through items developed and validated by (original article). The
descriptive stats were reported by frequency and percentage whereas the relationship turn would enable the organizations to appoint and designate personality-job fit employees
for sustained organizational performance.
