dc.description.abstract Purpose The purpose of this research is to investigate and explore the influence of certain HR practices (working conditions, rewards, training and development and performance appraisal) the phenomenon of employee retention in one of the rapidly growing information technology sector ofKarachi. on 5 Methodology & Design The selected research model is explanatory. Research data was collected through use of a questionnaire. The developed questionnaire was circulated among all levels of employees working information technology sector’s vicinity. 229 responses were collected through this survey approach. Collected data was analyzed through SPSS software in order to produce valuable findings. Findings Results demonstrated that three HR practices have a positive influence on employee retention in information technology sector of Karachi. While one practice resulted to have no impact retention of employees infonnation technology sector ofKarachi. Limitations The shortage oftime and unavailability ofresources was the limitation for this research. Recommendations Organizations are encouraged to understand the importance of HR practices involved in employee retention and must be engaged to design and implement practices and retention strategies that help to increase retention rate and reduce turnover rate considerably. en_US
