dc.description.abstract | Smart mirror is a device that functions as a mirror interface with the additional capability of displaying multimedia data, such as text, images, and videos. The device will create a near holographic display, where the cognitive information that is presented and the users reflection merge into one to give the effect of the text and pictures being produced by nothing. The device takes advantage of the refractive properties of light to create a two-way mirror. The mirror blocks light from low intensity side and reflects the light back from the high intensity side. By utilizing this property, the side with the monitor is kept in an enclosed box so that no extra light may enter that area, so only the data to be display is passed through the mirror and the rest is as if it doesn’t exist. In the scope of this project, we are displaying the live weather data, the location and the calendar for the user on the mirror interface. The calendar is fetched only after the user has authenticated themselves with facial recognition. We are using a Raspberry Pi as the controller for the mirror | en_US |
