Steganobox

Abstract

This report includes the study and implementation of a system which is securing the data by using the technique of steganography. In today’s era privacy and secrecy of data is the biggest concern and that is why every year billions of dollars are only spent to keep the data secure. Even the normal mobile user buys apps on android store to keep their password secure in those apps but still the owners of those apps have full access to your secure data, the other problem is secure medium of transferring data, the cloud services which are very popular for hosting and sharing the data are also not secure and small businesses or companies cannot develop their own secure medium like military to share confidential data with other employees so to overcome this problem SteganoBox is designed. This project SteganoBox is combination of two different things, one is a desktop application through which user can first encrypt the data and then hide it in a picture and then by using a dedicated web platform that picture can be transferred to the other user and then the other user can download the picture, extract the information from the picture and then decrypt that, instead of sending the image with important data user can also keep it secure on the web platform. Since the data is encrypted by user so the host of website will never be able to decrypt and see what text data or file is hidden inside a picture and even if a hacker somehow get access to the data hidden inside a picture, he will not be able to see it because it will be encrypted. This report explains all the aspects of SteganoBox and answer all the questions like how it works? Why it’s better than other software's? And what are the limitation of SteganoBox
