Abstract:
The aim of our current study was to explore the relationship between impulsive buying tendency, Binge eating and Body esteem among the females. Sample for our study comprised of (N=262) from locale of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The age range for the sample was adulthood (20- 35yrs) and middle adulthood (35-50yrs). Our data was collected through convenient sampling. Three instruments were used in our study to measure the variables i.e. Body Esteem Scale for Adolescents and Adults (BESAA) for body esteem, binge eating disorder screener-7 (beds-7) for screening binge eating disorder and Impulse buying tendency scale for measuring impulse buying tendency. The study is aimed at finding relationship of the demographic variables such as Marital Status and Occupation with respect to Impulsive buying tendency, Binge eating and Body Esteem. Results indicated that there is no significant difference shown in working/nonworking and married/unmarried women with respect to impulsive buying, binge eating and bodyesteem. There is a minimal correlation found among the variables. There is a significant positive relation found between binge eating and BMI. BMI also has a significant positive relation with appearance. No significant relation was found between binge eating and impulsive buying tendency. Additional findings, limitations and recommendations for future studies were also discussed in our study.
