dc.description.abstract The objective is to design an electric bicycle beneficial for the common people by providing an efficient and cheaper mode of transportation. It covers a distance of 40 km on a fully charged battery attaining maximum speed of 20 km/h approximately. The charging time is two to four hours with different speed levels operated by a 24 volt battery having a current capability of 10-20 ampere hours serving as major power source. A motor is connected to the bicycle by means of pulley and the speed of motor is controlled by using PIC microcontroller serving as the brain of entire project. This project is a cost effective solution to the problem of expensive transportation. en_US
