Abstract:
The aim of this research is to find out the critical success factors in a construction project. In order to conduct the study, the CPEC project is taken as an example. It is crucial to determine the critical success factors in any project as it offers insight into the performance and success of the project. The performance and success of small scale construction projects are manageable however, it becomes challenging in massive projects because these projects include a combination of different construction and infrastructure projects. Therefore, this research has been conducting the analyzes of project management success factors in the CPEC project, which is a massive global project and investment, and this project includes massive infrastructure changes such as motorways, highways, railway lines, seaports, bridges, and airports, including the different energy projects for the generation of electricity. The methodology that has been chosen for this project is quantitative based. The close-ended survey has been conducted through online survey forms among 350 participants. The analysis was performed through the SPSS including regression, factor analysis, and correlation. With the evaluation of the CPEC project’s performance and related factors, the findings highlighted that the critical success factors of CPEC construction projects are project-related, communication tactics, project management and contractor-based factors. On the other side, all those factors are positively associated with the construction sector’s project success, but the most dominant factors include communication, project management and contractor related factors. The restrictive time, cost, sample size, and information enhance the scope of the future researchers to explore the present gap within the research to improve the outcomes and contribute well to augment the performance of construction projects by considering other elements instead of project related communication tactics, project management, and contractor-based factors.
