Abstract:
Purpose
Excessive use ofsmart phones are the current attention seeking topic all around world(Shen
& Wang, 2019). The main purpose ofthis research is to highlight the most common issues
that we all are facing is due to, too much use ofsmart phones which results as loneliness.
Through study we have also find out the mediation effect of motivation and moderation
effect of perceived stress. This research primarily depend on students who are involve in
smart phones.
Methodology & Design
The research was conducted by using questionnaire which was filled by 357 individuals
of different age group. The nature ofreasech is quantitative and for the collection of data
primary source were used. The data was collected by online survey. The sampling
technique used is cross-sectional technique and deductive approach has been used. For
statistical tool jamovi have been applied.
The dependent variable was of smartphones, independent variable was excessive use
loneliness, and mediating variable was motivation which is further divided into
entertainment & motivation and moderating variable perceived stress.
Findings
Our results showed that there is positive and significant relationship because all of our
hypothesis are accepted and through it our study identified that excessive use ofsmart
phones which leads students to loneliness by mediating effect ofmotivation and
moderation effect of perceived stress.
Limitations
limitations that we face during our research work. Our research design There were some
cross-sectional design. Because due to excessive use ofsmartphones level of
loneliness will rise overtime. Currently we have done convenience sampling in our
ofKarachi, which includes only

research mostly the data was collected by students college and university students. However our sample represent large number of
smartphones users all around Pakistan.
Recommendations
There are some recommendations according to our research. Not only Pakistani researchers
all the researchers from the world needs to look in the matter and identity the pros and
corns ofthe problem. And with the help ofmental health institutes create awareness among
individuals through social media platforms.
