Abstract:
Purpose: This study aims to understand the impact of supportive work environment on
employee retention directly and indirectly with the mediation effect of organizational
engagement. This promotes the employers should improve their working environment
condition among the employees ofservice sector to keep skillful employees longer.
Methodology & Design: Quantitative descriptive research design has been used in this
study. An online survey designed to fulfil the purpose of the study. Due to large target
population, convenience sampling technique has been used that’s a type of non-probabilistic
sampling. 352 respondents participated in this survey. jAMM simple mediation analysis used
to test the hypothesis.
Findings The study reveal that SWE is improves to help the organization by retaining the
talented skillful employees. With the mediation of organizational engagement between SWE
and employee retention. Service industry field engage themselves in those activities which
led to employee retention.
Limitations This study can be done through focus group, observation and interview. This
study is limited to service sector only, manufacturing and other non-service sector are not
included. The other limitation was small sample size, because of time frame is short for this
study. This can be longitudinal for the purpose ofimprovement.
Recommendations Along with supportive work environment, HR practices like training,
rewards, recognition, appraisal, promotion, person job-fit and career management also
consider to stay longer employee. The study recommends that high level management have a
great impact to retain employees. Supervisory or boss support is necessary for every
accurate data will be gathering if data extract from mainly HR department
