Abstract:
Purpose: The aim ofthis study is to comprehend and observe the influence of certain HRM
practices on effectiveness of organization at Abbas Steel Group, Karachi. The HRM practices
perform an essential part in the overall operation, conduct as well as effectiveness of the
industry. The HRM practices considered for this research include Recruitment & Selection,
Training & Development, Performance Appraisal, Compensation & Benefits and Career
Development.
Methodology & Design: This study is explanatory in nature and deductive approach was
adopted. The sampling technique used in the study is simple random sampling technique.
The study is based on quantitative data. The primary data was acquired using a questionnaire
floated among the 242 employees at Abbas Steel Group. The questionnaire was adapted from
past literature. The data collected for the research was further processed using statistical
analysis tool i.e. SPSS V20. Reliability test, Pearson correlation and Regression analysis
were applied for variables and hypothesis testing respectively.
Findings: The research indicates that all the independent variables have a positive
relationship with organizational effectiveness but T&D, C&B and CD have considerable
significant influence on the effectiveness of organization at ASG while R&S and PA have
insignificant effect on effectiveness of organization.
Implications: This study is considered quite for management of the steel industry in
understanding on effectiveness of the company. Other influence of existing HRM practices
companies may also benefit from the conclusions of the study. The research is equally useful
for Academia and researchers.
