| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to spread awareness about the “green human resource practices” and to investigate the impact of “green human resource practices” on the employee commitment. Firms that adopt the “green human resource practices” plays a vital role in promoting environment related concerns. In order answer the research questions, the empirical study was conducted. The data was collected from 80 employees, working in telecommunication industry. Convenient sampling was used for data collection. The results suggest that the “green training and development” plays a significant role in promoting the “green practices” and increasing the organizational commitment of the employees. Moreover, Employees who participate in providing various ideas to make their work more efficient and environmental friendly are highly dedicated towards the organization. Hence, they remain loyal towards the organization. Also the “green recruitment and selection” showed negative relationship with the organizational commitment of employees, meaning that the job applicants are not quite sure about the “green practices” that the organization is using so, their organizational commitment at first is low. But this can be increased through strong “recruitment” practices. The organization should encourage the employees to participate in “green” initiatives. Training and development programs should tailored according to the need of the program. Public relations and recruitment practices should be enhanced so that the employees can judge the organizations environmental performance. The limitation of this study is that there is very little literature available on green human resource management since rare organizations are practicing Green HRM due to lack of understanding about it. | en_US |
