Abstract:
Purpose
The objective ofthe study is to analyze the impact of improper production planning on off-theclock working and excessive working hours in the construction industry ofKarachi, Pakistan.
Methodology & Design
Quantitative explanatory research design has been used in the study while purposive sampling
technique was used for selecting sample responses. For data analysis, the study has used
correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using Minitab.
Findings
The results of the study showed that improper production planning significantly increase
possibility and propensity of excessive working hours and working off-the-clock.
Conclusion
In an unorganized and lack of authoritative organization and working mechanism, excessive
working hours and off-the-clock working can be emerged as an outcome of the improper
production planning.
Recommendations
The study has recommended that managers should emphasized on planning strategically and
properly to engage workers adequately while unionization may help to avoid uncertain situations
in the production facility.
